A Day In the Life of Wayfinder School at Opportunity Farm

Gabrielle Taylor

Today was awesome!  We woke up and for the wellness activity, we played a game of around the world and we all had a lot of fun. Afterwards, most of the students went to their career exploration and I stayed back and helped Dana make quiche.  I also had help from Elizabeth, the intern, and Annie. When Molly got back from her interview, she and I worked together to make baked mac and cheese and pigs in a blanket. Around noon, family and loved ones started to show up because it was the first Loved One’s Luncheon of the school year. We all sat, ate and had fun. After lunch,  people said their goodbyes and gave their  hugs. We cleaned up the kitchen and had social justice class with the students from Camden, and because it was our first real interaction with the Camden campus, it was fun! There were so many ideas! It was fun because students at the Opportunity Farm campus know students on the Camden campus.

After class we all went outside to get some fresh air and wait for circle to start.

When circle started, we started talking about stuff like tv times and music during independent study.  In the end, we managed to come to a conclusion we all agreed on. We did our shout out and appreciations. We all came back to Anthony House, hung out or made dinner. Around 6:30, we all sat down to the awesome dinner Molly and Dana made, had conversations, laughed and  smiled. After that, we all moved to our perspective chores and when we got done with chores, it was time for independent study.  All in all, it was a pretty calm and good day.
